Conserving our Shared Freshwater Economies

Business partnerships for preserving the Great Lakes 

The Great Lakes of Canada and the African Great Lakes are vitally important sources of freshwater for millions. 
Who are the key players in conserving the freshwater economy across these various countries? How can partnerships and dialogue advance enabling solutions from non-governmental actors, notably business? 
Policies for conservation assume entrepreneurs and business work within existing frameworks, but what policy reforms may be required to keep pace and enable new innovations?
On 16 March 2022 we explored the role of business, and public sector-focused analysts, in working in joint Canada-Africa exchanges of knowledge and innovation.

Phumlani Umajozi is a business and macroeconomics analyst, writer and commentator on economic, political and global issues. His commentary has been published widely and cited by TIME Magazine and Al Jazeera, among others.  

In June 2018, he became a Senior Fellow at African Liberty and writes on African politics and economics in the context of public policy.

Phumlani will address policy and the legislative framework in which the private sector not only adheres to water conservation rules but is an active part of driving new and innovative market-solutions for conservation partnerships.  Read More
