The Canadian International Grains Institute (Cigi) is the technical division of Cereals Canada and provides technical support on behalf of the Canadian value chain. Cigi has provided support to African wheat mills by demonstrating how the quality of Canadian wheat can be used in blends to increase the quality of end-products in Nigeria - where Canada has now overtaken the U.S. as the biggest exporter to the largest African market. Cigi has provided similar support to North African customers with respect to the use of Canadian durum in couscous and pasta. Delegates gained insights into Canada-Africa collaboration, and learn more about the work of Cereals Canada and its technical division Cigi, with a focus on their technical assistance for Canadian and African companies.
Keynote speaker: Lisa Nemeth, Director Markets, Cereals Canada (Cigi Technical Division)
Followed by high-level remarks from:
Gordon Bacon, CEO of Pulse Canada and Canadian Special Crops Association
Bo Simango, founder of Acqafort
All companies who participated were provided the option of sharing a brief on their company and service with fellow attendees, which will also be shared with over 8000 members of The Canada-Africa Chamber of Business database.
