Rosalind discussed key provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act and its impact on Canadian businesses operating in or investing into South Africa. Unusually South Africa’s data privacy law also protects personal data of corporate entities which changes the risk profile of compliance with data privacy laws. Rosalind focused on some key developments in the ICT space in South Africa, also outlining the legislative process and public participation mechanisms for legislation still underway.
