In 2017 Greg transitioned out of Global Affairs Canada after a three-decade-plus career spanning numerous senior-level roles across five continents. His foreign assignments included Johannesburg, South Africa (with Namibia, Mauritius, Madagascar, Zimbabwe and Botswana); Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; Bangkok, Thailand (with Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar); Atlanta, Georgia (plus North & South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama & Mississippi); Sydney, Australia; Athens, Greece; and the Washington – Philadelphia corridor in the USA. He has extensive experience in international business development, business-government and business-community relations, with a special focus on natural resource development.
Before beginning his career with Global Affairs Canada, he worked as a researcher with the McDonald Royal Commission of Inquiry into Certain Activities of the RCMP, and as an analyst on strategic policy with Canada’s Export Development Corporation (EDC). Presently, he is the managing principal of Trinsyc Strategic Communications, a consultancy engaged in government, business and community relations plus international business development strategy.
Greg was raised on a family farm near Ridgetown, in southwestern Ontario, Canada, the eldest of five siblings. He received a BA in Political Science in 1977 and a MA in International Relations in 1979, both from Carleton University in Ottawa. In 1981, he completed a Master of Business Administration degree at Western University’s Richard Ivey School. He is married to Sharon Foltz, and they have one daughter, Sydney.
