Minister of Industry and Trade
 

Carlos Alberto Fortes Mesquita has been Minister of Industry and Commerce since, 17 January 2020. Previously, he was Minister of Transport and Communications from 19 January 2015 to 14 January 2020.

Carlos Mesquita is a Mechanical Engineer by profession. He worked at the Corredor da Beira office and at the Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique Centro as an “A” Engineer, between 1987 and 1998. From 1998 to 2015, he was Managing Director of Cornelder de Moçambique.

He served as Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in Beira, from 1999 to 2014. He served on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of the Navy (INAMAR), between 2007 and 2014. He assumed the position of non-Executive Director of the Board of Directors of Administration of Beira Grain Terminal, SA, from 2009 to 2015.

In 2001, Carlos Mesquita as Managing Director at Cornelder was considered by KPMG to be the best company in the top 100 in Mozambique.

In the period from 2000 to 2015, he received several merit awards in business management.
