Minister Mary Ng on measures for Africa

We are working hard to ensure the latest support opportunities and provisions amidst COVID-19 are delivered to members and guests, through world-class networking and information-sharing webinars.

Mary Ng, Canadian Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion & International Trade joined us at 12 noon on Friday 8 May, covering measures to assist all Canadian companies, including (but not limited to) Canadian firms operating in African markets.

Minister Ng also covered questions related to:

  • the role of the diaspora in deepening Canada-Africa trade and investment;
  • Africa’s essential place in Canada’s trade diversification;
  • how Canada is meeting needs in Africa;
  • and a message from the Canadian government to Small and Medium Businesses.

At 12.30, immediately following this session, McKinsey & Company updated us on the current trade and investment landscape between Canada and Africa, taking into account COVID-19. Senior partner Dr Acha Leke (Johannesburg) and Expert Associate Mukani Moyo (Toronto) showcased the latest research on the potential impact on African markets.
